Threads give your learning journey a discussion area — a place where participants, managers, and admins can start conversations, ask each other questions, and reply. Once you turn the tab on, everyone in the journey can join in; you decide what the conversations are organized around and who can start which kind.
Availability
Threads are available for organizations on the Team plan and higher.
If your plan doesn't include them, you won't see the option to turn on threads in a learning journey.
Turn the Threads tab on or off
Threads stay off until you switch them on. In the learning journey's settings, turn on Enable threads tab, and a Threads tab appears in the journey for admins, participants, and managers alike, so everyone can start and join threads there. Turn Enable threads tab off and the whole Threads tab disappears again for everyone — that's how you hide the threads section from participants.
One tab, all or nothing. This switch controls the entire Threads tab. You can't hide or schedule an individual thread: there's no way to make a single thread appear or disappear on a set date, and while the tab is on, every thread in it is visible to the whole journey at once. To point participants at the thread that's relevant right now, bring it into a Micro training (below) so it meets them at the right moment — the Threads tab still lists all of them, so a common approach is to hold off on creating a thread until it's time for it.
Start a thread
Threads are created in the Threads tab. Open Threads, choose Start a new thread, and pick a category. Anyone in the journey can do this — it's the natural home for open discussion, like a thread where everyone introduces themselves at the start.
Bring a thread into a Micro training
Once a thread exists, you can surface it at a specific point in the journey. Add a slide, choose the Thread element, and Select a thread to reference. Participants can then post and reply to that same thread right there in the micro training. The thread has to exist in the Threads tab first — the element points to an existing thread, it doesn't create a new one. See Slide elements in a Micro training.
Choose a category
Every thread sits in a category, so related conversations stay together. Threads come with three:
💬 General — chat about anything and everything.
📣 Announcements — updates from administrators. Only admins can start threads here; participants and managers can read and reply.
🙏 Q&A — ask peers and experts for help.
Participants and managers start their threads in General and Q&A. Announcements is admin-only, so important updates don't get lost among everyone else's posts.
Who can do what
Everyone can start threads (outside Announcements), post, and reply. As an admin you also moderate: you can edit or delete any post, rename a thread, and mark a reply as the answer in a Q&A thread. Participants and managers can edit or delete only their own posts.
Getting notified
Anyone can follow a thread to keep up with it. New posts reach them through New posts in threads that I follow, which each person turns on or off in their own notification preferences.
Before you launch, preview the journey as a participant so the Threads tab and any embedded threads read the way you intend.
