What are evaluations?

What an Evaluation is in Knowly: an anonymous activity for feedback, built from Rating, NPS, Multiple choice, Open-ended, and Text block questions — and how it differs from a Knowledge test.

An Evaluation is an activity type you add to a learning journey to ask participants questions and hear how something landed — what they made of a session, how confident they feel, what they'd change. You can also run one on its own, outside a journey.

You build an Evaluation from a few kinds of question and mix them to fit what you want to learn:

  • Rating — a scale question, good for measuring confidence, satisfaction, or agreement

  • NPS — the standard 0–10 "how likely are you to recommend" question

  • Multiple choice — a set of options participants pick from

  • Open-ended — a free-text answer, where people explain in their own words

  • Text block — not a question, but text you add to introduce a section or give a bit of context

When you're ready to build one, creating an evaluation walks through adding these elements and setting it up.

Evaluations are anonymous

Evaluation answers aren't tied to the person who gave them. You see what participants answered, but not who said what — and there's no setting to change that. That's what makes an Evaluation the right activity for honest feedback.

If you need to know which participant gave which answer, use a Knowledge test or Micro training instead. Those attribute each response to the person who submitted it.

What you do with the answers

Once participants respond, you read the results in Knowly — a summary of each question alongside the individual answers. When someone outside Knowly needs to see the outcome, you can share selected results through an online report.
