Manage notification preferences

Learn how to set global notification defaults and override them for individual learning journeys.

You can control which notifications you receive at two levels: global defaults that apply to every learning journey you follow, and per-journey overrides for individual learning journeys.

Availability

  • Notification preferences are available on Team, Enterprise, and Knowly plans.

Set your global defaults

Your global defaults apply to all learning journeys that you follow. To change them, open your account settings and go to notification preferences.

If you are wondering why a learning journey is already followed, Knowly may have started following it for you when you created it or actively set it up, for example by duplicating it, scheduling activities, or importing participants. When that happens, your global defaults apply automatically.

Under the settings for learning journeys you follow, you can toggle each notification type on or off:

  • Suitable moments to send manual reminders — for example shortly after an activity's deadline has passed, and its final reminder has been sent.

  • New posts in threads that I follow — when someone posts in a discussion thread you follow.

  • Another admin mentioning me in an internal comment — when another admin mentions you with @ in an internal comment.

All three are enabled by default. The suitable-moment reminder notification appears in your Inbox after Knowly sees that an activity deadline has passed and its final automatic reminder has already been sent.

Override settings for a specific learning journey

If you want different settings for a particular learning journey, open that journey's settings and make sure Follow this learning journey is turned on. Then scroll to Notifications for you personally.

You have two options:

Use my default notification settings. The journey follows your global defaults. If you later change your global settings, this journey changes too. You can change your defaults from a link in this section.

Override with custom settings. The journey uses its own settings. Changes to your global defaults will not affect this journey.

When you choose to override, the same three checkboxes appear and you can toggle each one independently.

Per-journey notification overrides in learning journey settings

Turn off all notifications for a journey

If you want to stop receiving notifications for a specific learning journey entirely, unfollow it. Open the learning journey settings and turn off Follow this learning journey. You will no longer receive any notifications for that journey.

If you unfollow a learning journey, Knowly keeps that choice until you follow it again.

To keep following but silence specific notification types, override the settings for that journey and uncheck the types you do not want.
