Insert from…: reuse an activity from another learning journey

Reuse a single micro-training, survey, or other activity you've already built — copy it from another learning journey into the one you're working on with Insert from…, instead of rebuilding it or duplicating a whole journey.

Built a micro-training, survey, or other activity in one learning journey and want to use it again in another? You don't have to rebuild it, and you don't have to duplicate a whole journey just to get one activity out of it. In the learning journey editor, Insert from… lets you open another journey, pick the exact activities you want, and copy them into the one you're working on — so all the work that went into them comes with you.

When to use this instead of duplicating

Reach for Insert from… when you want a few specific activities, not a whole journey. A micro-training you've polished, a survey you reuse every time, a set of instructions you've written once — copy just those into the journey you're building now.

If instead you want a fresh journey that starts as a full copy of an existing one, that's duplication, not this. Duplication brings the whole journey and its schedule; Insert from… brings only the activities you choose.

How to insert an activity from another journey

  1. Open the learning journey you want to add to and go to its editor.

  2. Click Insert from…. You'll find it as its own button, and also in the menu you use to add an activity — so you can reach it the same way you'd add anything else.

  3. Search for and open the learning journey that has the activity you want — you can search by name and sort the list to find it.

  4. Pick the activities you want to bring over. You can select more than one.

  5. Knowly copies them in. You'll see a note that the activity was added to the bottom of this learning journey.

What comes across

You're copying the activities themselves — a micro-training keeps its slides, a survey keeps its questions, and so on. What you insert is a copy that lives in this journey, so editing it here won't change the original in the journey you took it from.

Insert from… copies the activities, not their timing. The copied activities arrive unscheduled at the bottom, and you set when they're sent as part of this journey — the original journey's dates don't follow them.

After you insert

New activities land at the bottom of the journey. Drag them where they belong — see Reordering activities in a learning journey. If you inserted something by mistake, you can remove it; see Deleting an activity from a learning journey.
