A peer sprint is a type of learning journey built for when participants start on different dates but you still want them to meet and work together in small groups. It combines the peer groups of a group meeting with a rolling start, so each group can get going once its participants are ready — rather than everyone waiting for one fixed set of session dates.
Availability
Peer sprint is a new learning journey type that's rolling out gradually.
If you don't see it when you create a learning journey, it isn't switched on for your organization yet. Reach out if you'd like access.
When to use a peer sprint
Reach for a peer sprint when both of these are true:
Participants join over time rather than all on the same day — onboarding, continuous leadership programs, or any initiative with a rolling intake.
You still want them to meet and collaborate in peer groups, the way they would in a group meeting.
A plain individual journey handles rolling starts but has no peer groups; a cohort journey has the groups but expects everyone on shared session dates. A peer sprint is the middle path.
How it compares to the other journey types
When you create a learning journey, you pick its type. Here's where peer sprint sits:
Grupp med träffar (Cohort with sessions) — everyone follows the same fixed dates and meets around shared sessions.
Individual — each participant follows their own schedule from their own start date, working on their own.
Peer sprint — each participant follows their own start date, and is placed in a peer group to meet and work with.
Create a peer sprint
Choose the type when you first create the learning journey: on the create screen, pick Peer sprint instead of Grupp med träffar or Individual. From there you build and schedule group meetings the same way you would in any journey — see How to create group meetings and Create group designations for group meetings.
If you're weighing this against the other options, Individual learning journey vs. cohort learning journey covers how the timing models differ.
How participants join and groups form
A peer sprint is built so you don't have to assemble each group by hand. People sign up themselves, and Knowly forms the groups for you.
Participants sign up through a link. A peer sprint has an Online signup URL — a dedicated web address people use to join on their own. Share it wherever your learners already are, such as an intranet page or your own learning platform, and they enrol without you adding them one by one.
You decide how the groups should be composed. In the learning journey's settings, Grouping rules let you set a Target group size and add a few questions people answer when they sign up. A Same value rule keeps people who gave the same answer together — for example, grouping managers only with other managers. An All different rule does the opposite. This is how you make sure a group has the right mix, and how you keep, say, a manager and their own team member out of the same circle.
Groups form and start on their own. Once enough matching people have signed up to fill a group, Knowly forms it and the sprint begins for that group — no fixed start date for everyone, and nothing for you to trigger. Until their group is ready, a participant who's signed up sees a short Waiting for your peer group message and gets an email the moment it starts.
If you'd rather place someone yourself, you can still assign a waiting participant to a group by hand.
