In some learning journeys, a manager, coach, mentor, or another support person follows your progress in Knowly. The exact name can differ between organizations, but the role is there to help connect the learning journey to your work.
You may receive Knowly emails because you are a participant, because you are someone's manager, or both.
Why a manager is included
Your organization decides whether a learning journey should include managers. A manager may be included so they can:
see that you are part of the learning journey
follow whether you are keeping up with activities
support you in applying what you learn
respond to manager-specific activities or questions
If you are unsure why a manager is connected to your journey, ask the organization that invited you.
What your manager can see
What a manager can see depends on how the learning journey was set up, but the purpose is usually support and follow-up.
A manager may be able to see things like:
which learning journey you are in
whether activities are upcoming, in progress, or completed
activity instructions or previews
responses or reflections that the journey is designed to share with managers
Managers do not get your personal Knowly access link. They use their own manager view if they have been invited into the journey.
What stays between you and the learning journey
Not every activity automatically shares every answer with your manager. Some parts of a learning journey may be for you to complete without manager follow-up, while others are designed for manager involvement.
If an activity asks for sensitive reflections, read the activity text carefully. It should explain what you are being asked to do and how the answer will be used.
If you are unsure what is shared, ask the organization running the learning journey before you answer.
If the wrong manager is connected
If Knowly shows the wrong manager, or if you think no manager should be connected, contact the organization that invited you. They can check the learning journey setup and update the manager assignment if needed.
