Knowly accepts common video, audio, image, and document formats for the media you add to a learning journey. Before you upload, it helps to know which file types work and how large a file can be — that's the quickest way to avoid a file that won't upload.
Availability
Uploading your own video and audio files is available on selected plans.
If your plan doesn't include it, you won't see the option to upload your own video or audio file. You can still add a video by pasting a link.
Accepted formats and size limits
Video. Knowly accepts mp4 and mov files. There's no set size limit — large files still upload fine; they just take a little longer to finish processing before the video is ready to play.
Audio. Knowly accepts mp3 and m4a files. As with video, there's no set size limit.
Images. Knowly accepts jpg, png, gif, svg, and webp files, up to 10 MB each.
Documents and other files. When you attach a file as a resource for participants — something to read or download — Knowly accepts PDF, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files, plus images, up to 150 MB each. Other file types, such as .zip, aren't accepted.
If a file won't upload
If an upload doesn't go through, check three things first:
The format. Make sure the file is one of the types listed above. A video in another format, such as .avi or .wmv, needs to be converted to mp4 or mov first.
The size. Images need to be 10 MB or smaller, and documents 150 MB or smaller.
Processing time. A large video can take a while to finish processing after it uploads. If it doesn't play straight away, wait a moment and check again.
