Translating a learning journey

Understand how translated learning journeys work, what language settings do not change, and how to find and fix the gaps a translation pass leaves behind.

A learning journey is usually authored in one content language. Knowly can help you create translated versions, but it does not automatically show different journey content to different participants based on their language setting.


What the language setting changes

A participant's language setting changes Knowly's interface text, such as buttons and system messages. It does not translate the activities, questions, files, or messages you wrote in the journey.


Use separate journey versions for different languages

For a multilingual audience, create separate journey versions for each content language. Duplicate the journey, translate the copy, then invite the right participants to the right version.


Translation usually needs a second pass

Translation rarely lands complete on the first try. Expect to find sections still in the original language — most often inside individual activities, on end screens, or in content-adjacent text that the translation step didn't pick up. Preview the journey and open each activity in turn to see what's missing.


Find and fix the gaps activity by activity

When you find a section that wasn't translated, open that activity in the builder and translate the missing parts in place. You don't need to redo the translation for the whole journey — fix it where it shows up. This is normal and expected when translating Knowly content; plan for a review pass before launch.
