What languages does Knowly support?

How Knowly handles language: the interface languages Knowly provides, the content you write yourself in any language, and the add-on that translates an existing learning journey.

Knowly handles language in a few different ways, and it helps to know which is which. There's the Knowly interface, the content you write yourself, and an add-on that can translate a learning journey you've already built.

The Knowly interface

The interface is everything Knowly provides: buttons, menus, system messages, and the standard emails Knowly sends on its own, like the access and sign-in emails. Knowly offers the interface in a set list of languages — mainly Swedish and English, with the Nordic languages (Norwegian, Danish, and Finnish) available if your organization has them switched on.

Each person sees the interface in their own Knowly language setting. You can't add a language here that Knowly doesn't already offer.

The content you write

Everything you write yourself — activity text, questions, messages, and the content of the notifications you send — can be in any language, because it's your own text. A learning journey, and the activity emails and text messages that go with it, can be in Portuguese, German, French, or anything else, even while the Knowly interface around it stays in one of the supported interface languages.

The same goes for role words you customize: if you set your own word for manager, it shows exactly as you type it and isn't translated. See Setting your own terminology in a learning journey.

Translating a journey you've already built

If you already have a learning journey in one language and want it in another, the Duplicate and translate add-on makes a translated copy for you and supports almost any language.

Availability

  • Duplicate and translate is available on selected plans.

  • If your plan doesn't include it, you can still Duplicate a journey and translate the content yourself.

Because it's AI translation, treat the result as a strong first draft — preview the journey and review it before you launch. Translating a learning journey walks through how it works and what to check.

Putting it together: you can absolutely run a journey in Portuguese — write the content in Portuguese, or use Duplicate and translate to convert one you already have. What stays Swedish or English is the Knowly interface around it, since that comes from Knowly's set list of interface languages.
